This piece honors Tre's father for being a beacon of light, a pillar, a vessel, in their community in the midst of self-destruction and endless systems built to destroy.

Some of us may be wondering what the censor bar represents. As you will see with a handful of pieces, a censor bar or a crown will be used to display individuals in either an ignorant state (censor bar) or an awakening/awakened state (crown).
The ignorant state correlates with "us" doing things in our own community that serves as a detrimental, destructive approach with our own people. We all are familiar with some form of behavior that serves as a hindrance in our communities.
The awakening/awakened state represents individuals who are aware of the dangers in Black communities and actually do their part to improve our communities by tackling issues head-on. An example of a person in an awakened state would be Colin Kaepernick.
